Farwell is a small village located in Howard County, Nebraska, in the United States. In 2020, about 138 people lived there. It is considered part of the larger Grand Island area.

History of Farwell

Farwell was first settled in 1887. A group of Polish settlers named the area Posen.

However, some Danish settlers arrived later. They did not like the name Posen. So, in 1889, the name was changed to Farwell. This name comes from a Danish word meaning "good-bye."

Farwell officially became a village in 1895.
