Federico Trillo-Figueroa Martínez-Conde (born May 23, 1952) is a Spanish politician. He was a member of the People's Party. He held important jobs like being the President of the Congress of Deputies, the Minister of Defense, and Spain's Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

Early Life and Education
Federico Trillo was born in Cartagena, Murcia. His parents were Federico Trillo-Figueroa Vázquez and Eloísa Martínez-Conde Muñoz. He married María José Molinuevo, a lawyer, in 1976. They have five children together.
He studied law at the University of Salamanca. After that, he earned his doctorate degree in law from the Complutense University of Madrid.
Career in Law and Politics
In 1974, Federico Trillo joined the Navy's Legal Corps. He was the top student in his class. He worked in the naval prosecutor's office.
Five years later, in 1979, he joined the Council of State. This is a very important legal body in Spain. He officially started there in 1980. He helped write an important document about Spain joining NATO. He left the Navy in 1989 to focus on politics.
Entering the People's Party
In 1983, Trillo joined the legal team of the Alianza Popular. This party later became the People's Party. He helped change and reorganize the party. Since 1986, he has been a member of the party's national executive committee.
Serving in the Congress of Deputies
Since 1989, Trillo was elected as a representative for the province of Alicante. From 1989 to 1996, he served as the Vice-President of the Congress of Deputies. This is like being a vice-speaker of the Spanish parliament.
On March 27, 1996, he was elected President of the Congress of Deputies. He held this important position until 2000.
Minister of Defense
In April 2000, Prime Minister José María Aznar chose him to be the Minister of Defense. This meant he was in charge of Spain's military.
In July 2002, he ordered a military operation on Perejil Island. Moroccan soldiers had occupied the island for a few days. Spanish forces successfully took back the island.
His time as Minister of Defense ended after a sad event. In May 2003, a plane carrying 62 Spanish soldiers crashed in Turkey. The soldiers were returning from Afghanistan. This event was a very difficult time during his leadership.
Ambassador to the United Kingdom
Later in his career, Federico Trillo served as Spain's Ambassador to the United Kingdom. He held this role from 2012 to 2017.
Published Works
Federico Trillo has written several books. His books are about law, politics, and how governments work. Some of his well-known books include El poder político en los dramas de Shakespeare (Political Power in Shakespeare's Dramas) and Pregones y Semblanzas.
He also helped start the Association for Studies for Social Progress. He is a member of the Spanish Commission of Military History. He is also a member of Opus Dei.
