Economy and Tourism
Fengning is becoming a popular place for tourists. This is because of the beautiful Bashang Grasslands in the northern part of the county. These grasslands are the closest ones to Beijing, making them easy to visit.
The local government wants to grow tourism. This helps protect the environment in the Chengde area. Tourism is a "green" industry. It doesn't cause as much pollution as other types of businesses. This is important for keeping the area's nature clean and beautiful.
The main attraction for visitors is the horse ranches in the Datan grassland. You can also visit the Dahan Palace, which is linked to Genghis Khan, and the Baiyun Ancient Cave. The best time to visit is in July and August. During these months, there are fun bonfire parties. You can enjoy ethnic songs and dances, eat roasted lamb, and watch traditional sports like wrestling and archery.
Transportation
Getting to Fengning is easy. Two important roads, China National Highway 111 and 112, go through the county. Highway 111 connects Fengning directly to Beijing.
