Feuerthalen is a municipality in Switzerland. It is located in the canton of Zürich, within the Andelfingen district. The village of Langwiesen is also part of this municipality.

History of Feuerthalen
Feuerthalen is a very old place. It was first mentioned in historical records in the year 876. Back then, it was known by the name Langewisa. Later, in 1318, it was called Fuirtal an dem Rine.
Geography and Location
Feuerthalen covers an area of about 2.5 square kilometers (about 1 square mile). A good part of this land, about 43.8%, is covered by forests. Another 38.6% of the land has buildings or roads on it. About 16.1% is used for farming.
This municipality is located on the left bank of the Rhine River. It was an important spot because it provided a "bridgehead" for the city of Schaffhausen. A bridgehead is like a strong point at the end of a bridge, helping to protect it.
Feuerthalen also includes the village of Langwiesen. Langwiesen shares a border with Büsingen am Hochrhein. Büsingen is a unique place because it's an "exclave" of Germany. This means it's a piece of German land completely surrounded by Swiss territory.
Population and People
Feuerthalen has a population of 3,697 people. About 19.4% of the people living here are from other countries. Over the last ten years, the number of people living in Feuerthalen has grown quite a bit, by about 24%.
Most people in Feuerthalen speak German, which is about 91.2% of the population. Italian is the second most common language, spoken by 3.0% of the people. Albanian is the third most common, spoken by 1.3%.
In the 2007 elections, the most popular political party was the SVP. They received 37.4% of the votes. Other popular parties included the SPS (20.9%), the CVP (10.7%), and the Green Party (10.4%).
Many adults in Feuerthalen have a good education. About 76.2% of people aged 25-64 have finished high school or gone on to higher education, like a university.
Feuerthalen has different types of jobs. In 2005, there were 12 people working in the primary economic sector (like farming). There were 370 people working in the secondary sector (like manufacturing). The largest group, 625 people, worked in the tertiary sector (like services and businesses).
