The women's field hockey tournament at the 2023 Pan American Games was a big event. It was the 10th time women's field hockey was played at the Pan American Games. The games took place in Santiago, Chile, from October 26 to November 4.
The team from Argentina were the champions. They won their eighth title by beating the United States 2–1 in the final match. The host country, Chile, won the bronze medal. They defeated Canada 2–0. Because Argentina won, they earned a spot directly in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.

How Teams Qualified
Eight teams got to play in the tournament. Chile, as the host country, automatically qualified. The top two teams from the 2022 South American Games and the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games also qualified.
The remaining spots were filled by teams from the 2022 Pan American Cup. Since Chile had already qualified through the South American Games, their host spot was given to another team from the Pan American Cup. This meant four teams qualified from that tournament.
