Filip Peliwo (born January 30, 1994) is a professional tennis player. He was born in Canada but started playing for Poland in 2022. Filip is famous for his amazing junior tennis career. He became the first Canadian boy to win a Grand Slam singles title. He won the junior Wimbledon title in 2012. The very next day, he won his second junior Grand Slam at the US Open. These wins helped him become the number one junior tennis player in the world in July 2012. He also reached the finals of the junior Australian Open and French Open in 2012.

Early Life and Training
Filip Peliwo was born in Vancouver, Canada. His parents, Mark and Monika, are from Poland. Filip started playing tennis when he was young at the North Shore Winter Club in North Vancouver. From 2009 to 2012, he trained at the National Training Centre in Montreal. He is the only one of his three siblings who was not born in Poland.
Filip's Tennis Journey
Junior Success
Filip had a fantastic junior tennis career. In December 2011, he reached the semifinals of the Orange Bowl, a big junior tournament. At the start of 2012, he won a major tournament in Traralgon, Australia. He beat Luke Saville, who was the junior world number one at the time.
Filip then made it to the final of the junior Australian Open, but he lost to Luke Saville. He reached his second Grand Slam final in a row at the French Open, where he lost to Kimmer Coppejans.
His luck changed at Wimbledon. He reached his third Grand Slam final in a row and won his first junior Grand Slam title! He beat the defending champion, Luke Saville. This was a huge moment for Canadian tennis. Filip's win came just one day after Eugenie Bouchard won the Wimbledon girls' title.
Filip continued his winning streak at the US Open. He reached his fourth straight junior Grand Slam final and won his second Grand Slam title by defeating Liam Broady.
As a junior player, Filip won 92 matches and lost 44.

Turning Professional
In March 2012, Filip reached his first professional semifinal at a tournament in Rimouski. He turned professional full-time in September 2012, right after winning the junior US Open. In November, he played in his first professional singles final in Mérida, Mexico.
In May 2013, Filip reached his second professional singles final in Marathon, Greece. He was given a special entry into the qualifying rounds for Wimbledon because he was the junior champion from the year before. He won his first match there but was stopped in the next round.
A big moment came in August 2013 at the Rogers Cup. Filip got a wildcard entry into the main tournament, which was his first time playing in an ATP Tour event. He surprised everyone by winning his first match against Jarkko Nieminen, who was ranked 39th in the world! Later that month, Filip won his first professional title in Markham, Canada.
In April 2014, Filip made it into an ATP tournament main draw without a wildcard for the first time. He won his opening match against Filippo Volandri.
Later Career Highlights
In February 2015, Filip won his second professional singles title in Feucherolles, France. Two weeks later, he won his first professional doubles title. In August 2015, he played in the main draw of the Rogers Cup again.
Filip won his fourth singles title in Toronto, Canada, in September 2016. The next week, he won a doubles title in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The year 2017 was very successful for Filip. In April, he won both singles and doubles titles at a tournament in Sharm El Sheikh. He won two more singles titles there in April, making it three singles titles in four weeks! In May, he won two more singles titles in Israel. In July, he won his sixth singles title of the year in Saskatoon, Canada. In November, he won his first ATP Challenger title in Knoxville, USA. This was a big step up in his career.
In March 2018, Filip reached his first ATP Challenger doubles final in Drummondville, Canada.
