Filodrillia is a group of small sea snails. These snails live in the ocean. They are a type of gastropod, which means "stomach-foot." This group of snails belongs to the family called Borsoniidae. This family also includes the famous cone snails.
What Filodrillia Snails Look Like
These Filodrillia snails live in deep parts of the ocean. Their shells are usually thin and slender. They have a special shape called "turreted whorls." This means the shell spirals up like a tower. Unlike some other snails, Filodrillia shells do not have strong ribs or bumps. Instead, their shells often have beautiful spiral patterns.
Where Filodrillia Snails Live
You can only find Filodrillia snails around Australia. They live off the coasts of New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania, and Victoria. This means they are found nowhere else in the world!
