History of Finley

Finley was officially founded in the year 1897. It started as a new settlement in North Dakota.

In 1911, a train accident happened in Finley. It was caused by a broken rail on the tracks. Sadly, six people lost their lives and 13 others were hurt.

Later, in 1919, Finley became even more important. The county seat, which is the main town for local government, was moved to Finley. Before this, it was in a place called Sherbrooke, North Dakota.
