Fionnuala Sherry, born on September 20, 1962, is a talented Irish violinist and singer. She is best known as one half of the music group Secret Garden. This group, which she formed with Norwegian musician Rolf Løvland, won the Eurovision Song Contest 1995. Their winning song was "Nocturne", which was mostly instrumental.
As part of Secret Garden, Fionnuala has released many popular albums. Several of these albums have reached the top 10 on Billboard's new-age music charts. In 2010, she also released her own solo album called Songs from Before.

About Fionnuala Sherry
Fionnuala Sherry started playing the violin when she was eight years old. She moved to Dublin at age fifteen to continue her music studies. She graduated with high honors from the College of Music at Trinity College, Dublin.
Her Musical Journey
Fionnuala began her professional career by joining the RTÉ Concert Orchestra. She played with them for ten years. She has also worked with many famous musicians. These include The Chieftains, Sinéad O'Connor, Van Morrison, and Bono. She has also recorded music for several Hollywood movies. These films include A Room with a View and The Mask.
Fionnuala uses a special violin for her performances and recordings. It is an English John Edward Betts violin from 1790. She uses a Hill bow with it.
Other Creative Projects
Fionnuala Sherry has also created and hosted a children's television show. This musical show was based on her own ideas and aired on Irish national television.
In 2010, she released her solo album, Songs from Before, in Ireland. The album was later released in the United States and Canada in 2011.

Fionnuala Sherry married Bernard Doyle, a businessman, in 2010.
Overcoming Challenges
In February 2015, Fionnuala had an accident in Dublin. She broke both her arms. This was a serious injury for a musician. However, she was determined to get back to playing.
After having more than one operation, Fionnuala worked hard to recover. By the end of 2015, she was able to start planning concerts again. She began touring again in 2016. Because of her experience with this injury, she sometimes feels nervous before performing.
