Florus "Flor" Silvester (born August 30, 1923, in Rotterdam; died December 2, 2008, in Dordrecht) was a talented Dutch artist. He was known as a graphic designer, an illustrator who drew pictures for books, a painter, and a sculptor who made art from different materials. Sometimes his last name is spelled Silvestre.
Flor Silvester was very successful. He won special awards for his work, including the Eurostar for packaging design and the Golden Nut award. He created designs and illustrations for many Dutch books. He also designed some famous posters that people still remember today.
Early Life and Training
Flor Silvester grew up in the Netherlands. He studied art at the Willem de Kooning Academy. This school was known by other names back then, like the Volksindustrieschool. It was a great place for young artists to learn and grow.
Flor lived in several Dutch cities during his life. He lived in Rotterdam and Utrecht. Later, he moved to Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht. In Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, his art studio was right in his home.
A Passion for Music
Besides being a visual artist, Flor Silvester also loved music. He played the trombone, a brass instrument, in different bands. He even performed at the 25th Jazz Festival of Breda in 1995. This shows he had many creative talents!

Flor Silvester was married to Elizabeth van Dijk. They had three children together.
