Florencio's History
Puerto Rico became part of the United States after the Spanish–American War. This change happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a special area connected to the U.S.
In 1899, the United States Department of War counted the people living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. They found that 1,289 people lived in Florencio and a nearby area called Quebrada Vueltas.
