Florida is a special kind of neighborhood called a barrio. It is located in the town of San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 5,293 people lived in Florida.
A Look Back: Florida's History
After the Spanish–American War, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened because of the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
In 1899, the United States government counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census showed that 807 people lived in Florida barrio at that time.
