The Flying Horse Walk is a cool shopping arcade right in the middle of Nottingham City Centre in Nottingham, England. This special shopping area has many different fashion shops and other stores. You can find it just off the city's Old Market Square on a street called The Poultry.
The shopping arcade gets its name from a very old building. This building is a public house, or pub, from the 1400s called the Flying Horse Inn. It is located at the Market Square end of the walk. The front of this old pub has been kept. It is now a Grade II listed building, which means it's an important historical building. It was fixed up a lot in 1935 and then changed in 1989 to become an entrance to the shopping centre.
A Look Back at Flying Horse Walk
The Flying Horse Walk was bought by a company called London & County LLP in September 2011. After this, the shopping centre went back to its original name, Flying Horse Walk, instead of FH Mall. It also welcomed many new shops.
The new owners completely updated the arcade. They gave it a fresh look and even added horse sculptures to the entrances. These changes helped to make the shopping arcade popular again. The entrance to the arcade is inside a beautiful brick building from the 1700s. Today, the Flying Horse Walk is home to many unique shops. You can find places selling food, clothes, and even fine art. London & County LLP also plans to turn the top two floors into homes for students.
