History of Football in North Macedonia
The Football Federation of Macedonia was officially created on 14 August 1949 in Skopje. At that time, it was part of the Football Association of Yugoslavia, as North Macedonia was then a state within Yugoslavia. Before 1949, a football section was already set up in Skopje in 1948.
For many years, until 2002, the organization was known as the Football Association of Macedonia. A big step for the FFM happened in 1994 when it became a member of FIFA (the world football body) and UEFA (the European football body). This meant North Macedonia could compete in international football tournaments.
The very first president of the FFM was Ljubisav Ivanov - Dzingo. Also, Andon Dončevski was chosen by the FFM to be the first coach of the North Macedonia national team.
FFM Logo and Crest
The FFM has a special logo, also called a crest. The older logo, used until 2014, showed the Macedonian flag at the top on a yellow background. Below it was a blue shield with the yellow letters "FFM" in Macedonian Cyrillic writing, placed above a football.
On 22 March 2014, the Football Federation of North Macedonia introduced a brand new logo.
