History of Fordsville
Fordsville was settled around the year 1830. It was named after an early merchant, or trader, named Elisha Ford, who was likely the person who started the town. The town officially became a city in 1886. This happened when the state assembly, which is like Kentucky's law-making group, formally approved it.
