History of Forest

Forest got its start a long time ago. A post office opened there in 1854, helping people send and receive mail. The village was officially planned out in 1855 when a railroad line was built to reach that spot. It's thought that the village was named "Forest" because the area was originally covered in many trees. Forest became an official village in 1865.

A very exciting event happened in Forest on April 8, 2024. The village was right in the path of a total solar eclipse. This meant that the moon completely blocked the sun for almost four minutes, making it one of the best places to see this amazing natural show!
