Forkners Hill is a small, quiet place in northern Webster County, in the southern part of Missouri. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. Instead, it's part of the larger county.

This community is nestled in the beautiful Ozarks, a region famous for its rolling hills, forests, and rivers. Forkners Hill is located right where two roads, Route WW and Route Y, meet. It sits north of the Niangua River and is about 1,250 feet above sea level. The town of Conway is just four miles northeast of Forkners Hill, in Laclede County.

History of Forkners Hill

Forkners Hill has a simple but interesting history. It was named after the local Forkner family, who were early settlers in the area. Many communities in the United States were named after the families who first lived there or owned a lot of land.

For a time, Forkners Hill had its own post office. This post office was open from 1869 until 1906. Back then, a post office was a very important place for a community. It wasn't just for sending letters; it was often a central meeting spot where people could get news, connect with others, and access services that are now common in larger towns. The closing of the post office in 1906 likely meant that the community became less of a central hub as people started using services in nearby towns.
