Foshee is a small place in Escambia County, Alabama, United States. It's called an unincorporated community. This means it's not an official town with its own local government. You can find Foshee between the towns of Brewton and Pollard. It is located right on U.S. Route 29.
Foshee started as a sawmill town. This means it was a place built around a mill that cut down trees into lumber. It was named after Stewart J. Foshee. He owned many sawmills in the area.
In the late 1890s, Russell A. Alger and Martin Sullivan started the Alger-Sullivan Lumber Company. They began cutting down trees around Foshee. The lumber from their mill helped build a new sawmill in Florida. This sawmill eventually grew into the town of Century. Foshee even had its own post office for a short time, from 1914 to 1924.
