Fox's Biscuits is a well-known English company that makes delicious biscuits. It was started by the Fox family in 1853 in a town called Batley, located in West Yorkshire, England. Today, it is part of a bigger company called Ferrero.

The main office and biggest factory for Fox's Biscuits are still in Batley. They also have another factory in Wesham, Lancashire. You can find Fox's biscuits not just in the UK, but also in Europe, North America, and Asia! The company is famous for many popular biscuits, especially those covered in chocolate, like Rocky, Classic, Echo, Crunch Creams, and Party Rings. They also make biscuits for different supermarkets under those stores' own brands.

The Story of Fox's Biscuits

How It All Began

The company's journey started way back in 1853. A man named Michael Spedding began baking "eatables" in his small home at 17 Whitaker Street in Batley. He would sell his tasty treats at local fairs and celebrations across northern England.

Later, Michael's daughter, Hannah, married Fred Ellis Fox. It was Hannah who gave the company its famous name, Fox's Biscuits, in the late 1800s. The original house on Whitaker Street where it all began is still standing today.

Growing Bigger

As the business grew, the bakery moved to a larger site in Batley in 1927. In 1960, the company officially became "Fox's Biscuits Limited."

In 1977, a company called Northern Foods bought Fox's Biscuits. Then, in 2011, 2 Sisters Food Group took over Northern Foods. In September 2013, the Yorkshire Society placed a special White Rose plaque at the first bakery's location on Whitaker Street. This was a special moment, as it was the first time the society had honored a business's beginning with a plaque.

New Ownership

In October 2020, the global company Ferrero bought Fox's Biscuits for £246 million. Ferrero is known for many popular sweet treats around the world. In the same year, Fox's Biscuits also won a Bronze Award at the Lausanne Index Prize, which recognizes top companies.

Meet Vinnie the "Danda"

In May 2008, Fox's Biscuits launched a big TV advertising campaign. It featured a fun character named "Vinnie." Vinnie is a "danda," which is a playful mix between a dog and a panda!

Vinnie was created to be Fox's "number one fan." In the ads, he traveled all the way across the Atlantic Ocean to tell everyone about his favorite biscuits. He even mispronounced "biscuits" with a "w" sound, making it sound like "wiscuits." The animation team who worked on Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia helped create Vinnie.
