Fox's Confectionery Ltd was a British company that made sweets and candies. It started a long time ago in 1880 in a place called Braunstone, near Leicester, England.

The Story of Fox's Sweets

How it All Started

Fox's Confectionery was created by Walter Richard Fox in 1880. He began by selling groceries and sweets to other businesses. Their first home was an old warehouse in Leicester from the Victorian era. By 1897, Fox was making more than 100 different kinds of sweets!

Changing Owners Over Time

In 1969, a company called Mackintosh's bought Fox's. A year later, Mackintosh's joined with Rowntree's of York to form Rowntree Mackintosh.

Later, in 1988, a big company called Nestlé bought Rowntree-Mackintosh. But Nestlé didn't keep Fox's for long. In 2001, they sold the Fox's brand and its factory in Leicester to Northern Foods. Then, in 2003, Fox's was sold again to a company called Big Bear Ltd. Big Bear Confectionery had factories in different places, including Leicester.

Finally, in 2015, Valeo Foods bought Fox's Confectionery. This is who owns the company today.

Meet Peppy the Polar Bear

Have you ever seen the Fox's Glacier Mints? They have a cool mascot! It's a polar bear named Peppy. His name comes from the word "peppermint."

Peppy was created by an artist from Leicester named C. Reginald Dalby. He is also famous for drawing the pictures in the The Railway Series books. These are the books about Thomas the Tank Engine, written by the Rev. W. Awdry.

Fox's Sweets Around the World

In some countries, like Indonesia, Fox's candies are made by other companies. For example, in Indonesia, PT Savoria Kreasi Rasa makes them. This company is part of Djarum, which is a large company there.
