Francesco Maselli (born 9 December 1930 – died 21 March 2023), also known as Citto Maselli, was a famous Italian film director and screenwriter. He made 38 films during his career, starting in 1949.

About Francesco Maselli
Maselli finished his studies at the National Film School in 1949. He began his career helping other well-known directors. He worked as an assistant director for Luigi Chiarini, Michelangelo Antonioni, and Luchino Visconti.
With help from Visconti, Maselli directed his first full-length movie, Abandoned. This film was shown at the 16th Venice Film Festival, which is a very important film event.
In the 1980s, Maselli started making movies that focused more on people's feelings and stories, especially about women. One of these films was A Tale of Love. For this movie, Maselli won the Grand Jury Prize at the 43rd Venice Film Festival. Also, the actress Valeria Golino won her first Volpi Cup for Best Actress for her role in the film.
His 1990 movie Il segreto was shown at the 40th Berlin International Film Festival. This is another major film festival.
Francesco Maselli passed away in Rome, Italy, on 21 March 2023. He was 92 years old.
