Francis Magee was born in Dublin, Ireland. He grew up on the Isle of Man. Before becoming an actor, he worked as a fisherman for eight years. Later, he studied acting at the Poor School in London. In the 1980s, he was also the lead singer for two bands, Joe Public and Jo Jo Namoza.
