Frank Johnson's Baseball Journey

Starting in the Minor Leagues

Before joining the big leagues, Frank Johnson played in the minor leagues. He was a good hitter there. In four of his first seven seasons, his batting average was over .290. This means he got a hit almost three out of every ten times he tried.

Playing for the San Francisco Giants

Johnson first played for the San Francisco Giants in 1966 and 1967. He played more games in 1968, appearing in 67 matches. However, that year was known as "The Year of the Pitcher" because pitchers were very dominant. This made it hard for many batters, and Johnson's batting average was .190.

His best season in professional baseball was in 1970. He batted an amazing .353 in the Pacific Coast League, which is a high level of minor league baseball. After that, he played another 67 games for the MLB Giants. In those games, he had his best MLB batting average of .273. He also hit three home runs and brought in 31 runs. During his time with the Giants, he played alongside famous players like Willie Mays. Other young outfielders on the team included Bobby Bonds and George Foster.
