History of Frankford
Frankford was first established in 1808. It became an official town in 1937. It's located right on U.S. Route 113.
In 1848, the town got its own post office. This is when it was named Frankford Village. Later, when the Pennsylvania Railroad came through, Frankford grew even more. It became a busy place with a hotel, shops, and even an opera house. This made it an important center for business and culture.

The Capt. Ebe Chandler House is a very old and important building in Frankford. It was built in 1880. In 1979, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a special place that is protected because of its history.
Getting Around Frankford
Most people travel to and from Frankford by car. U.S. Route 113 is the main highway that goes through the town. It heads north towards Georgetown and south into Maryland.
Frankford is also a meeting point for two different train lines. These are the Delmarva Central Railroad and the Maryland and Delaware Railroad.
