Franz "Franky" Schiemer (born March 21, 1986) is an Austrian football coach and former player. He played as a defender during his career. Most recently, he was an assistant head coach for Leeds United.

Playing Career
Franz Schiemer was born in Haag am Hausruck, a town in Upper Austria. He began his football journey in his hometown of Taufkirchen an der Pram, where he played as a striker.
Early Days and Professional Debut
Schiemer joined the youth teams at SV Ried and quickly showed his talent. He made his professional debut for SV Ried during the 2003–04 season. He was only 17 years old at the time. In the same year, he helped his team achieve third place in the U17 European Championship.
Moving to Top Clubs
In 2005, Schiemer moved to Austria Wien, another well-known Austrian club. After four years there, he joined FC Red Bull Salzburg in 2009. He signed a contract with Red Bull Salzburg until June 2012.
Championship Wins
Franz Schiemer had a very successful playing career. He won the Austrian Football Bundesliga, which is Austria's top football league, two times. He first won it with Austria Wien in 2006. Later, he won it again with FC Red Bull Salzburg in 2010. He also won the Austrian Cup four times.
International Matches
Schiemer also played for the Austrian national team. He made his first appearance for Austria in October 2007 against Switzerland. Even though he played well, he was not chosen for the EURO 2008 squad. He played 19 games for his country and scored 4 goals.
Life After Playing: Coaching and Management
On January 1, 2015, Franz Schiemer announced he was retiring from playing football. This decision came after he faced many injuries during his career.
Starting as a Coach
After retiring as a player, Schiemer immediately started a new role as an assistant coach. He joined FC Liefering, a team that works closely with Red Bull Salzburg.
Sporting Director Role
On February 13, 2017, Schiemer took on a new challenge. He was appointed as the new sporting director for SV Ried, the club where he started his professional career. In this role, he helped manage the club's sports activities.
Brief Coaching Return
In April 2018, the head coach of SV Ried, Lassaad Chabbi, took a leave of absence. Franz Schiemer stepped in as the interim head coach for a short period. He was replaced by Thomas Weissenböck later that month. Schiemer then returned to his role as sporting director. However, he resigned from this position in November 2018.
Assistant Coach at Red Bull Salzburg and Leeds United
For the 2019–20 season, Schiemer returned to FC Red Bull Salzburg. He became an assistant coach to Jesse Marsch. Later, in 2022, he followed Jesse Marsch to England and became an assistant coach for Leeds United.
