Major Wins and Promotions

SV Ried won its first big trophy in 1998. They won the Austrian Cup by beating Sturm Graz 3–1 in the final match. This was a very exciting victory for the club.

In 2003, Ried was moved down from the top division. This ended their eight-year stay in the highest league. But they did not give up! Two seasons later, Ried returned to the Bundesliga. They became champions of the Erste Liga on May 23, 2005. They won a game against Kapfenberg 3–2 to secure the title.

In the 2005–06 season, Ried achieved its best league finish ever. They came in fourth place in the Bundesliga. The next year, they did even better, finishing second and becoming vice-champion. The team had a tough start but improved greatly. They went twelve matches without losing. They also won their last five games of the season. This amazing comeback helped them finish second. It also earned them a spot in the UEFA Cup qualifying round.

In the 2022–23 season, SV Ried finished last in the Austrian Bundesliga. This meant they were moved down to the Austrian Second League. This happened for the 2023–24 season. It was their first time being relegated after three seasons in the top league.
