Fred Hawkins (born September 3, 1923 – died December 6, 2014) was an American professional golfer. He played on the PGA Tour, which is a series of golf tournaments for professional players, from the mid-1940s to the mid-1960s.
Hawkins was born in Antioch, Illinois. He went to the University of Illinois and the Texas State School of Mines and Metallurgy. He became a professional golfer in 1947.

Fred Hawkins' Golf Career Highlights
Fred Hawkins had a successful career in golf. He won one PGA Tour event and finished second 19 times. His best year was 1956. That year, he finished fourth on the money list, which means he earned a lot of prize money. He also won his only PGA Tour event, the Oklahoma City Open.
Playing in Major Golf Tournaments
Fred Hawkins also played well in major golf tournaments. These are the most important events in golf. His best finish in a major was tying for second place at the 1958 Masters Tournament. He shared this spot with another golfer named Doug Ford. The famous golfer Arnold Palmer won that tournament. Hawkins also tied for sixth place at the 1957 U.S. Open.
In 1957, Fred Hawkins was chosen to be part of the 1957 Ryder Cup team. The Ryder Cup is a special golf competition between teams from the United States and Europe.
Playing as a Senior Golfer
Later in his career, Fred Hawkins played on the Senior PGA Tour. This tour is now called the Champions Tour. He played there from 1980 to 1991. His best results on this tour were two third-place ties. These happened in 1983 at the Merrill Lynch/Golf Digest Commemorative Pro-Am and in 1984 at the Gatlin Brothers Seniors Golf Classic.
