Fredrick Smith is an American politician and a former professional basketball player. He has been a member of both the Democratic Party and the Green Party.

Early Life and Education
Fredrick Smith went to high school in Crawfordsville, Arkansas. This town is in Crittenden County, in eastern Arkansas. After that, he studied at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Amazing Basketball Career
After college, Fredrick Smith joined the famous Harlem Globetrotters basketball team. They are known for their amazing tricks and basketball skills. In 1997, he set a world record for a vertical slam dunk. He jumped almost 12 feet high! He was even chosen for the Harlem Globetrotters' all-time best player list.
After his basketball career, Smith returned to Arkansas in 2004. He started a non-profit group called Save Our Kids. This group works to help young people in the community.

Fredrick Smith decided to become a politician. He wanted to represent people in the Arkansas House of Representatives. This is where laws are made for the state of Arkansas.

2010 Election Race
In 2010, State Representative Otis Davis decided to retire. This meant the seat for Arkansas House District 54 was open. Fredrick Smith decided to run for this position.
In the first election, Smith received the most votes. He then won a second election against James Pulliaum. Smith then won the main election with a large number of votes. He served for a short time in the Arkansas House.
2012 Election Race
Later, Fredrick Smith decided to run for the Arkansas House again. He joined the Green Party of Arkansas. He ran for District 50, which was a new district.
The person who held the seat, Hudson Hallum, left office. On Election Day, a judge made a decision about the votes. This led to Smith receiving all the votes counted for the seat. This made him a state representative again. He was the second person from the Green Party to be elected to the Arkansas State Legislature.
2014 Election Race
During his time in office, Smith often voted with the Democrats. In 2014, he ran again for his House seat. However, he was not chosen by his party to run in the main election. Milton Nicks Jr. won the election instead.
