Geography of Crawfordsville
Crawfordsville is located near the center of Crittenden County. It covers about 1.45 square kilometers (0.56 square miles) of land.
The area around Crawfordsville is part of a special natural region. This region is called the Mississippi Alluvial Plain. It has many low-lying areas and floodplains. These areas used to be covered by forests. You would find trees like bald cypress, water tupelo, and different kinds of oak trees here. These forests were often flooded for part or all of the year.
The Wapanocca National Wildlife Refuge is northeast of Crawfordsville. This refuge helps protect some of these unique flooded forests.
U.S. Route 64 passes just north of the town. This road can take you to Marion, which is about 8 miles east. It also leads to Memphis, Tennessee, about 19 miles away. If you go west, you can reach Earle, which is about 9 miles from Crawfordsville.
