Freddie Highmore (born 14 February 1992) is a talented English actor. He started acting when he was very young. He became famous for his roles in movies like Finding Neverland (2004) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).
Later, Freddie starred in popular TV shows. He played Norman Bates in Bates Motel (2013–2017). He also played Dr. Shaun Murphy in The Good Doctor (2017–2024). For The Good Doctor, he was also a producer. He has won several awards for his acting.

Early Life and Education
Freddie Highmore was born in Camden Town, London, on February 14, 1992. His mother, Sue Latimer, is a talent agent. She helps actors like Daniel Radcliffe find roles. His father, Edward Highmore, was also an actor.
Freddie went to The Brookland Junior and Infant school. Later, he earned a scholarship to Highgate School in London. He was a very good student.
In 2008, Freddie got top grades in many subjects for his GCSE exams. These included English, maths, Spanish, and French. In 2010, he again achieved top grades in his A-level exams.
From 2010 to 2014, Freddie studied at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He earned a special degree in Spanish and Arabic. He also spent time working at a bank in Kuwait and a law firm in Madrid. This made him think about becoming a lawyer.
Freddie's Acting Career
Starting as a Child Actor (1999–2004)
Freddie Highmore began acting at age seven. He had small roles on TV. In 2001, he played a young King Arthur in the TV series The Mists of Avalon. He also acted with his father in the TV film Jack and the Beanstalk: The Real Story.
In 2004, Freddie starred in the film Two Brothers. He played a boy who befriended a tiger cub. He also had a big role in Five Children and It. His breakthrough came in Finding Neverland. He played Peter Llewelyn Davies. For this role, he won a Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Young Performer.
Young Adult Roles (2005–2011)
In 2005, Freddie played Charlie Bucket in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His co-star, Johnny Depp, suggested him for the role. Freddie had not seen the older movie version. He wanted his portrayal of Charlie to be unique. He won another Critics' Choice Movie Award for this role. He also voiced Charlie in the movie's video game.
He appeared in A Good Year (2006). Then, he played Arthur Montgomery in Arthur and the Invisibles (2006). He voiced Arthur in two sequels as well. In 2007, he lent his voice to The Golden Compass. He also starred in the drama film August Rush. He played a musical genius looking for his parents.
Freddie played twin brothers in The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008). This film was based on popular children's books. He also voiced characters in the video game version. In 2013, Freddie voiced the main character in Justin and the Knights of Valour. From 2013 to 2017, he played Norman Bates in the TV series Bates Motel. This show was a prequel to the famous film Psycho. He won a People's Choice Award for his performance. During this time, he also started writing and directing episodes for the show.
In 2016, Freddie starred in the miniseries Close to the Enemy. He also appeared in the film The Journey.
In 2017, Freddie took on the lead role in The Good Doctor. He plays Dr. Shaun Murphy, a surgeon with autism and savant syndrome. He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for this role. Freddie also works as an executive producer and director on the show. He even wrote an episode.
Screenwriting and Producing (2018–Present)
In 2018, Freddie Highmore started his own production company called Alfresco Pictures. His company creates TV shows and films. He wants to tell stories that are important and start conversations. He hopes to give a voice to different experiences.
