Frederic Dahl Evans (born June 29, 1866 – died May 1, 1953) was an important officer in the United States Army. He served in the military during the late 1800s and early 1900s. He fought in three major conflicts: the Spanish–American War, the Philippine–American War, and World War I.

Early Life and Military Training
Frederic Dahl Evans was born on June 29, 1866, in Ottawa, Illinois. He had a brother named Lynden Evans. Frederic chose a career in the military.
In 1887, he graduated from the United States Military Academy. This famous school trains future army officers. After graduating, he became an officer in the 22nd Infantry Regiment.
Serving in the Frontier and Overseas
From 1887 to 1889, Evans worked on the American frontier. He served with several different infantry regiments, including the 20th, 18th, 17th, and 4th Infantry Regiments. He also led Seminole scouts until 1892.
From 1893 to 1898, Evans was stationed at Fort Bliss. In 1898, he and his regiment went to the Philippines. This was because of the Spanish–American War. Later, he also served there during the Philippine–American War.
Key Battles and Assignments
During his time in the Philippines, Evans took part in the Battle of Manila. He also worked as an adjutant, helping with military expeditions. He returned to the Philippines again between 1903 and 1905.
In 1906, Evans completed his studies at the United States Army War College. This is a school for senior military officers. From 1906 to 1907, he worked at Fort Leavenworth. He was part of a group that tested infantry officers.
World War I Service and Later Years
On August 5, 1917, Frederic Evans was promoted to the rank of brigadier general. This is a high rank in the army. He then became the leader of the 152nd Infantry Brigade, which was part of the 76th Division at Fort Devens.
Commanding Troops in France
During World War I, General Evans traveled to France. There, he commanded the 156th Infantry Brigade, which belonged to the 78th Division. In October, he was given command of the 55th Infantry Brigade, part of the 28th Division.
After the war, on November 27, 1918, he returned to his permanent rank of colonel. He officially retired from the army in 1924. However, in June 1930, the United States Congress restored his rank of brigadier general.
Personal Life and Legacy
Frederic Dahl Evans passed away on May 1, 1953. He died at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery, a special place where many important military figures are laid to rest.
Family Life
In 1893, Frederic Evans married Winona Anderson. Sadly, Winona passed away in 1925. Two years later, in 1927, he married Sarah Page. With Sarah, he had a daughter named Eleanor.
