Becoming a Companion in Doctor Who
When we cast the character of Adeola, I met Freema [Agyeman] for this part – actually, I met her for two parts – and when I met her, as soon as she walked through the door, I knew she was going to be quite exceptional. When she walked in, I thought I was looking at Halle Berry English-style...
Freema Agyeman tried out for three different roles in Doctor Who in 2006. She first auditioned for Sally Jacobs but didn't get the part. Later, she tried out for Adeola Oshodi and got the role. She filmed her scenes in December 2005. She appeared on screen as Adeola on July 1, 2006.
