History of Fromberg
Fromberg is located near the Gebo Mine. This coal mine was developed by a person named Samuel Gebo. Another community, Coalville, also known as Gebo, Montana, was even closer to the mine.
The Fromberg Post Office opened on March 21, 1903. Abraham Pierson was the first postmaster. The town was named after Conrad Fromberg. He was a major investor in the Northern Pacific Railroad.
A famous building, the Gebo Barn, is south of town. It was finished in 1909 on the Gebo Ranch. This barn is so important that it's listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means it's a special historical site.
In 2022, Fromberg was greatly affected by floods in Montana.
Geography and Location
Fromberg is easy to reach by road and rail. Montana Secondary Highway 310 runs through the town. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad also passes through.
The Clarks Fork Yellowstone River flows along the east side of Fromberg. This river adds to the natural beauty of the area.
