How Frydek Got Its Name
The community of Frydek was officially started in 1895. It was likely named after a town called Frýdek in what is now the Czech Republic. Many people from the Czech Republic settled in this area.
Growth and Community Life
Frydek quickly became a place where local farmers and ranchers could sell their goods. It even had its own post office from 1901 to 1906. By 1931, Frydek had four businesses. A church built there was still in use in 1999. The number of people living in Frydek changed over the years:
- In 1933, there were 25 people.
- In 1939, the population grew to 75.
- From 1964 to 2000, about 150 people lived in Frydek.
Most people in the community today are still of Czech heritage.
Changes to the Community
In 2019, a part of Frydek became its own city called South Frydek. This happened after the area around the church became part of the city of Sealy's planning area.
