Fultonham is part of the Zanesville micropolitan area, which means it's a smaller community connected to a larger city. The village was named after Robert Fulton, who invented the first successful steamboat.

History of Fultonham
Fultonham was first known as Uniontown. It was officially planned out, or platted, in 1815. A post office was opened in Uniontown in 1818. Later, in 1828, the name of the village was changed to Fultonham.
