The Story of Fuse Chocolate
How Fuse Became Popular
When Cadbury first tested the Fuse bar, people really loved it. Most people thought it was excellent or very good. A large number of people also said they would buy it often. This showed Cadbury that the chocolate bar would be a big hit!
A Big Launch Day
Because the tests went so well, Cadbury planned a huge advertising campaign for Fuse. The chocolate bar was officially launched across the country on a special day called "FuseDay". This happened on Tuesday, September 24, 1996. The marketing campaign was so big that a TV show was even made about it!
Early Success and Discontinuation
Fuse chocolate bars sold incredibly well right after their launch. In just the first week, over 40 million Fuse bars were sold! However, even with this great start, Cadbury stopped making the Fuse bar in the United Kingdom in 2006.
Bringing Fuse Back
Campaigns for Its Return
After Fuse was discontinued, many fans missed it. By 2010, different groups and campaigns started to ask Cadbury to bring the chocolate bar back to stores. People really wanted to taste Fuse again!
A Special Halloween Treat
In October 2015, Cadbury decided to do something fun. They started a campaign on Twitter called #CadburyCraveyard. Fans could vote for which old chocolate bar they wanted to see brought back for Halloween. The choice was between Fuse and another bar called Marble. Fuse won the vote!
Cadbury then made 100 Fuse bars using the original recipe. These special bars were given to 100 lucky fans who had voted. This was a small taste of the past for many chocolate lovers.
Secret Testing for a Relaunch
By July 2016, Cadbury started secretly testing the Fuse bar again. They worked with certain people across the UK to make sure the recipe was perfect. This was all done before a possible public relaunch of the bar.
Fuse in India
Launching in a New Market
In September 2016, Mondelez International, the company that owns Cadbury, launched the Fuse bar in India. This was a big step for the chocolate bar.
A leader from Mondelez International, Manu Anand, said that Fuse would be a special, high-quality product in India. He believed it would create a whole new type of chocolate bar for people to enjoy.
A Slightly Different Bar
The Fuse bar in India was first sold online through an e-commerce website. It appeared there two weeks before it arrived in regular stores. The Indian version of the Fuse bar is a little different from the original one that was sold in the United Kingdom.
