About Gadiel Sánchez Rivera

Gadiel was born in 1978 in a city called Pucallpa, in Peru. When he was younger, he worked as a farmer. Later, he became a logger, which means he cut down trees. However, Gadiel soon realized that cutting down too many trees was harming the environment. He decided he wanted to protect the jungle instead of destroying it.

Gadiel's Amazing Expeditions

Gadiel “Cho” Sánchez Rivera has been part of many exciting adventures. He is known for his skill in navigating through dense jungles and for his knowledge of nature.

Walking the Amazon River

From 2008 to 2010, Gadiel joined another adventurer named Ed Stafford on an incredible journey. Their goal was to walk the entire length of the Amazon River. This was a huge challenge, as the Amazon is one of the longest rivers in the world, flowing through thick jungles.

Gadiel was a key member of the team. He used his jungle knowledge to guide them safely. He helped them find paths, understand the plants and animals, and survive in the wild. In August 2010, they successfully finished the walk. Their journey was so amazing that it was made into a two-part TV show called "Walking the Amazon" on the Discovery Channel.

Kayaking Lake Titicaca

In 2013, Gadiel took on another world-first challenge. He teamed up with Louis-Philippe Loncke for the "TitiKayak" expedition. They became the first people to kayak all the way around Lake Titicaca. This huge lake is high up in the Andes Mountains, on the border between Peru and Bolivia.

During their trip, they did more than just paddle. They also helped scientists by taking special photos and notes. They recorded the exact GPS location of where the water met the land all around the lake. They also took underwater photos on the Bolivian side of the lake. This helped researchers find out where the giant frog Telmatobius culeus lives. This frog is very special and only found in Lake Titicaca.

Other Adventures

Gadiel continued his explorations after these big expeditions. In 2016, he joined adventurer Laura Bingham on her long biking trip. They cycled all the way from Ecuador to Argentina. Gadiel's experience and skills make him a valuable partner on challenging journeys.
