Galesburg is a small city located in Kalamazoo County, in the state of Michigan, USA. In 2020, about 2,049 people lived there.
Galesburg is found along the northern side of the Kalamazoo River. It is located near the M-96 highway and just north of I-94. The city of Kalamazoo is about 10 miles (16 km) to the west, and Battle Creek is about 10 miles (16 km) to the east.

History of Galesburg
Galesburg was first settled in 1835 and was originally called Morton. In 1837, the town was officially planned out and given its current name, Galesburg. It became a village in 1861 and then a city in 1931. The city is named after George L. Gale, who was one of the first people to settle there.
Geography and Land Area
According to the United States Census Bureau, Galesburg covers a total area of about 1.45 square miles (3.76 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 1.41 square miles (3.65 square kilometers), is land. The remaining small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.10 square kilometers), is water.

Local Schools
In 1951, the communities of Galesburg and nearby Augusta worked together to create a public school district. This district is called Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools. Today, Galesburg has a primary school and a high school. The middle school for the district is located in Augusta.
