History of Garden Farms

Garden Farms was first developed in 1918. A man named Edward Gardner Lewis bought land from a large ranch called Rancho Santa Margarita. His idea was to create farms in this area. These farms would grow food and other produce. The plan was for this produce to supply the nearby town of Atascadero.

However, a difficult economic time happened after World War I. This period was called a recession. Because of this recession, Edward Gardner Lewis's plan did not succeed as he hoped.
