Garos is a small town, also known as a commune, located in the southwestern part of France. It is part of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques département, which is like a county or administrative area in France.
About Garos
Garos is a quiet place with a small population. In 2006, about 209 people lived there. The town covers an area of about 12 square kilometers (around 4.6 square miles). It sits at an elevation of about 191 meters (627 feet) above sea level, but its lowest point is 94 meters and its highest is 236 meters.
Location and Geography
Garos is found in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques département. This area is known for its beautiful landscapes and is close to the Pyrenees mountains, which form a natural border between France and Spain. The town is part of the Pau area and the Arzacq-Arraziguet region.
Local Government
Like all communes in France, Garos has its own local government. The town is led by a mayor. From 2008 to 2014, the mayor of Garos was Jean-Marc Theulé. The mayor and the local council are responsible for managing the town's services and looking after the community. Garos also works with nearby towns through a group called the Communauté de communes du canton d'Arzacq, which helps them share resources and work together on bigger projects.
