Gavin Kirk McCallum (born August 24, 1987) is a professional Canadian soccer player. He plays as a left-back, which is a defensive position on the left side of the field.

Gavin McCallum's Club Career

Gavin McCallum started his soccer journey in 2005 with Yeovil Town. He signed a contract with them in January 2006. During his time at Yeovil, he also played for other teams on loan. This means he temporarily joined another club to get more playing experience.

Early Loan Spells

  • In August 2006, he joined Tamworth for a month, and then for a second month.
  • Later in November 2006, he went on loan to Crawley Town.
  • In March 2007, he joined Dorchester Town on loan. He scored his first two goals for Dorchester Town in a 3–2 win against Thurrock. He scored five goals in 15 games for them.

After these loans, he played for Weymouth and Havant & Waterlooville.

Playing for Sutton United and Hereford United

Before the 2008–09 season, Gavin joined Sutton United. He scored a goal just twelve minutes into his first game for the club. He played 54 games for Sutton United, scoring 19 goals. In August 2009, he signed with League Two team Hereford United after showing his skills during a trial.

Time at Lincoln City

In the summer of 2010, McCallum moved to Lincoln City on a two-year deal. He played his first game for Lincoln City in August 2010. He scored his first goal for the club in January 2011. About three weeks later, he scored the winning goal in a 2–1 away game against Bradford City. In May 2011, Lincoln City decided to let some players go after their team was moved down to a lower league.

Moving to Woking and Other Clubs

In November 2011, Gavin went on loan to League Two club Barnet. He left Lincoln City in January 2012. He then joined Woking before the 2012–13 season. He played 49 games for Woking, scoring 5 goals.

He returned to Sutton United in December 2013. To get more playing time, he joined Tonbridge Angels on a one-month loan. After that, he was called back to Sutton United. In June 2014, he joined Eastbourne Borough, where he played 142 games and scored 26 goals over four years.

Later, he signed with Welling United in June 2018. He played for them until 2020. In October 2020, he joined Dartford. His most recent move was to Bognor Regis Town in June 2021.

Playing for Canada's Youth Team

He first represented the Canada U-20 team. This is a team for players under 20 years old.

Playing for the Senior National Team

Gavin McCallum earned his first "cap" (which means playing in an official game) for the Canada senior team on May 29, 2010. This was in a friendly match against Venezuela. What's amazing is that he scored a goal in his very first game for the senior team! His goal in the 92nd minute helped Canada get a 1-1 draw.
