Gavin Ron Robertson, born on May 28, 1966, is a former Australian cricketer. He was known for his right-arm offbreak bowling, which means he spun the ball away from a right-handed batter. He also batted lower down the order for his team.

Cricket Career Highlights

Gavin Robertson started his cricket journey playing for the New South Wales Blues in 1987. He played there for two seasons.

Playing for Tasmania

To get more chances to play, Gavin moved to the Tasmania team. He played with the "Tigers" for two seasons.

Return to New South Wales

After his time in Tasmania, Gavin returned to New South Wales. He was a key part of the team that won the Sheffield Shield in the 1992–93 season. He stopped playing professional cricket in 2000.

International Debut

Gavin made his first appearance in a Test match for Australia in March 1998. This important game was against the Indian team in Chennai.

Test Match Performance

In his Test debut, Gavin took a total of 5 wickets. He also showed his batting skills by scoring 57 runs. He and Ian Healy worked together to make a 96-run partnership for the 9th wicket. This helped Australia get ahead in the first part of the game. However, a great century by Sachin Tendulkar helped India win the match.

Life After Cricket

After retiring from cricket, Gavin Robertson continued to be involved in sports. He became a host on radio and television.

Gavin currently hosts a radio show called "Talkin Sport" on 2SM. He also appears regularly as a panelist on the Fox Sports TV program called Bill & Boz.

In the band, Gavin plays the drums and sings backing vocals. The other members of Six & Out are four of his former teammates from the New South Wales cricket team.

Health Journey

In May 2019, Gavin was diagnosed with a brain tumour. He bravely went through operations and chemotherapy treatments. By January 2024, he had recovered enough to play with his band at a reunion concert in Melbourne.
