Pageant Journey
Miss World Philippines 2014
Gazini first joined a big beauty pageant called Miss World Philippines 2014. She did well and placed in the Top 13. The winner of that pageant was Valerie Weigmann.
Binibining Pilipinas 2019
On June 9, 2019, Gazini competed in Binibining Pilipinas 2019. She represented her city, Talisay, Cebu. She won the main title, which was Miss Universe Philippines 2019.
Gazini is the second woman from Cebu to win the Miss Universe Philippines title. The first was Pilar Pilapil in 1967. During the national costume part of the competition, Gazini wore a special outfit. It was inspired by Queen Juana, who was a queen from the ancient kingdom of Cebu. Her costume also showed the spirit of the Sinulog Festival in Cebu.
Because of her Middle Eastern background, she performed a belly dance for the talent competition. Gazini is very close to her grandparents. This led her to choose elderly care as her main cause. She was crowned by the previous winner, Catriona Gray, who was also Miss Universe 2018.
Gazini also won two special awards:
- Best in Long Gown
- Face of Binibini (which means Miss Photogenic)
During the question and answer part of the pageant, she was asked: "If you win the crown tonight, what can you do to get more women in the workplace?" She answered:
"If I win the crown tonight, I will promote my cause. My cause is for women to fight for their rights. It is also about caring for the elderly. We should know that someone loves us and encourages us to reach our goals. We can achieve our dreams because of the wisdom they gave us."
Later, on October 25, 2020, Gazini crowned Rabiya Mateo as the next Miss Universe Philippines.
Miss Universe 2019
As Miss Universe Philippines 2019, Gazini represented her country at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant. This big event took place on December 8, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
For the national costume competition, Gazini wore an amazing outfit. It was inspired by the Philippine eagle. The costume had two life-sized eagles on each shoulder. It was carefully made with hand-stitching and special patterns.
During the preliminary competition, Gazini introduced herself and the Philippines. She wore a beautiful lavender gown. For the swimsuit part, she showed her special 'phoenix' walk. She wore a black bikini with a bright yellow cape. For the evening gown competition, she wore a golden gown designed by Cary Santiago from Cebu. This gown reminded many people of the pink gown she wore when she won Miss Universe Philippines.
At the final coronation night, Gazini made it into the Top 20. This meant she was one of the best contestants. In her opening speech, she talked about her passion:
"The world is getting older, and my grandparents raised me. I worked with a group that helped older people. I learned that sometimes older people face challenges like being forgotten or not having enough support. It's important to remember that they helped us get to where we are today. We should show them our love back, and no one should be left behind. Thank you."
Gazini finished her Miss Universe journey as a Top 20 semifinalist. She also won the Best in National Costume award. The winner of Miss Universe 2019 was Zozibini Tunzi from South Africa.
