About Gelves
Gelves is a separate municipality. It is part of the larger metropolitan area of Seville. Seville is the capital city of the region. Gelves is surrounded by other towns. To the north is San Juan de Aznalfarache. To the west is Mairena del Aljarafe. To the southwest are Palomares del Río and Dos Hermanas. Across the river, Gelves faces the Los Remedios district of Seville. This district is on the Isla de La Cartuja.
Not to Be Confused With
It is important not to confuse Gelves with "Los Gelves." "Los Gelves" is the Spanish name for Djerba island. This island is off the coast of Tunisia. Spain fought important battles there in 1510 and 1520. Our Gelves is a city in Spain, not an island.
