The Quest for El Dorado
In Gemsweeper, you play as a brave treasure hunter! Your adventure begins in a museum, where you're helping to fix a broken Olmec statue. Suddenly, the statue comes to life! It asks you and an old friend, Professor McGuffog, to help rebuild the legendary, lost city of El Dorado. As you solve over 225 puzzles, you'll slowly bring the city back to life and become a higher-ranked treasure hunter!
How to Play Gemsweeper
The main goal in Gemsweeper is to find hidden gems on a game board. You need to uncover the tiles that hide gems and break all the other tiles.
Finding Hidden Gems
You'll see numbers above and to the left of the board. These numbers are clues! They tell you where the hidden gems are located.
- Use a hand cursor to pick up gems you find.
- If you find a "cursed" tile, you'll need to smash it with a hammer.
- Sometimes, you might get "jokers." These special helpers can give you a hint if you're not sure what's behind a tile.
Learning the Puzzles
Gemsweeper has a helpful tutorial. It teaches you the basic rules of these logic puzzles, also known as nonograms. This makes it easy to learn how to play!
Arcade Mode Fun
There's also an "Arcade Mode" which offers a different way to play. In this mode, the puzzles don't show a picture. Instead, they are more abstract. As soon as you solve one row of tiles, a new row appears with different clues. This keeps the game exciting and challenging!
