Geno Stone (born April 19, 1999) is an American professional football player. He plays as a safety for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL). Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. The Baltimore Ravens chose him in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft.

Geno Stone's Early Life and High School Football
Geno Stone grew up in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He went to New Castle Junior/Senior High School. There, he was a star athlete, playing wide receiver, quarterback, and defensive back on the football team. He also played basketball and was part of the track & field team.
In his senior year, he was named first-team All-State. This means he was one of the best players in the state. He made 97 tackles, which is when a player stops an opponent with the ball. He also had 10 interceptions, which is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player.
Geno first decided to play college football at Kent State. But then, he received an offer from Iowa and decided to go there instead.

Geno Stone played for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 2017 to 2019.
Freshman Year (2017)
As a first-year player, called a "true freshman," Geno played in all 13 games. He mostly played on special teams, which are units used for kickoffs, punts, and field goals. He finished the season with 17 tackles and one interception.
Sophomore Year (2018)
In his second year, Geno became a starter. He had 39 tackles, forced one fumble (when a player loses control of the ball), and broke up three passes. He also had four interceptions, returning one for a touchdown. He was recognized as an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten Conference.
Junior Year (2019)
As a junior, Geno had an even better season. He made 70 tackles, forced three fumbles, and had one interception. He was named second-team All-Big Ten. After this season, Geno decided to enter the 2020 NFL draft. This meant he gave up his last year of college eligibility to play professionally.

First Time with the Baltimore Ravens (2020)
The Baltimore Ravens chose Geno Stone in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL draft. He was the 219th player picked overall.
He signed a four-year contract with the Ravens. During training camp, he worked to earn a spot as a backup safety. He started the season as a backup free safety.
Later in 2020, the Ravens released Geno but signed him to their practice squad a few days later. He made his first professional game appearance on November 8, 2020. He was later moved back to the main team roster. He was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list for a short time before being released by the Ravens again in December 2020.
Time with the Houston Texans (2020)
The Houston Texans then picked up Geno Stone. He only played in two games for the Ravens during his first year, mostly on special teams.
Second Time with the Baltimore Ravens (2021-2023)
2021 Season
In March 2021, the Baltimore Ravens signed Geno Stone again. He competed for a spot as a backup safety during training camp. He started the season as a backup safety, listed fifth on the team's depth chart.
On September 19, 2021, Geno made his first career tackle. As the season went on, he played more because many Ravens' defensive players were injured. On December 19, 2021, he started his first NFL game. He made a season-high seven tackles. On January 9, 2022, he got his first career interception. He finished the 2021 season with 21 tackles and one interception in 15 games.
2022 Season
In 2022, the Ravens kept Geno Stone. He competed for a starting safety spot. He began the season as the third strong safety on the team.
In Week 5, the starting free safety, Marcus Williams, got injured. Geno Stone then became the starting free safety for Week 6. On October 28, 2022, he made a season-high eight tackles. In Week 14, he went back to being a backup after Marcus Williams returned from his injury. He finished the 2022 season with 38 tackles, one pass defended, and one forced fumble.
2023 Season
On March 17, 2023, the Baltimore Ravens signed Geno Stone to another one-year contract. He started training camp as a backup safety.
In the first game of the season, the starting free safety, Marcus Williams, got injured again. Geno Stone then took over as the starting free safety. On September 17, 2023, he made his first start of the season. He had nine tackles, one pass deflection, and intercepted a pass. He continued to have a great season, intercepting passes in four straight games. In Week 17, he set a career-high with his seventh interception of the season. He finished the 2023 season with 68 tackles, nine pass deflections, and a career-high seven interceptions in 16 games. He had the second most interceptions in the NFL that year.
Cincinnati Bengals (2024-Present)
2024 Season
On March 11, 2024, the Cincinnati Bengals signed Geno Stone to a two-year contract. He became the starting strong safety for the Bengals.
In Week 11, he made a season-high nine tackles and recovered a fumble. On December 9, 2024, Stone intercepted a pass. On December 15, 2024, he intercepted another pass and returned it 39 yards for his first career touchdown! On December 22, 2024, he had his third interception in a row. He started 17 games during the 2024 NFL season. He finished with 81 tackles, six pass deflections, four interceptions, and one touchdown.
