George Ricardo Codrington, born on November 26, 1966, is a former cricket player from Canada. He was also a captain for Canada's One Day International (ODI) team. He played in five ODIs between May 2006 and August 2006.

Playing for Canada

George Codrington made his debut for the Canadian team on May 17, 2006. In his very first match against Bermuda, he scored the most runs for Canada, getting 45 runs without being out. This was a great start to his international career.

He also played in the 2005 ICC Trophy tournament, which took place in Ireland. This competition helps teams qualify for the Cricket World Cup.

George is known as a right-hand batsman, meaning he bats with his right hand. He was also a right-arm medium-fast bowler, which means he bowled with his right arm at a good speed.

Captain of the Team

In late 2006, George Codrington became the captain of the Canadian team. He led the team during their matches in South Africa. He took on this important role because the usual captain, John Davison, was not available to play.

Playing for Clubs

Before playing for Canada, George Codrington had a strong career in club cricket. He even captained the Barbados Under-21 team in a competition in the West Indies.

In 1986, George traveled to England. He went there as part of a special scholarship named after the famous cricketer Viv Richards. He was joined by other talented players like Curtly Ambrose and Samuel Skeete.

While in England, George played for Birkenhead Park in the Liverpool and District Cricket Competition. He later played for Walsden Cricket Club in 1987. In 1988, he returned to the Liverpool league, playing for Chester Boughton Hall.

Coaching Cricket

After his playing career, George Codrington decided to share his knowledge and experience. He took on a coaching role for the Canada Women's national cricket team. This shows his continued dedication to the sport in Canada.
