Georgi Mikhaylovich Shchennikov, born on April 27, 1991, is a former Russian football player. He was known for playing as a left defensive midfielder or a left-back. Georgi comes from a family of athletes; his father, Mikhail Shchennikov, was an Olympic medalist in race walking. Georgi spent his entire professional club career playing for CSKA Moscow.

Starting His Club Career

Georgi Shchennikov started playing for the main CSKA Moscow team in 2008. His very first game was in the Russian Cup on August 6, 2008. Soon after, he also played in a big European competition called the UEFA Cup. This was a special moment because he played in a European game even before playing in any domestic league games.
Scoring Important Goals
In 2013, Georgi scored his first goal for CSKA Moscow. It was an exciting moment as it was an extra-time winner against Terek Grozny. This means he scored the goal that won the game right at the end of extra time.
Later, in 2017, he scored his first goal in the UEFA Champions League. This is one of the biggest football competitions in Europe. His goal helped CSKA Moscow win 2–0 against Benfica. The next year, in 2018, he scored another impressive goal. This time, it was against the famous team Real Madrid in their home stadium, the Santiago Bernabéu. CSKA Moscow won that game 3–0.

Georgi Shchennikov played for CSKA Moscow for 15 seasons. He was a very loyal player. On June 3, 2023, he played his last game for the club. In this farewell match, CSKA Moscow won 4–1 against FC Rostov. This win helped his team finish in second place in the 2022–23 Russian Premier League.

Georgi also played for his country, Russia. He was part of the Russia under-21 team. This team competed in the qualification rounds for the 2011 European Under-21 Championship.
