Germaine Bazzle (born March 28, 1932) is a talented jazz singer from New Orleans. She is known for her amazing voice and her long career in music and teaching.
Early Life and Music
Germaine Bazzle was born in New Orleans in 1932. She grew up in the Seventh Ward, a famous neighborhood in the city. Her family loved music, and Germaine started playing the piano by ear when she was very young. This means she could play songs just by listening to them! When she was twelve, she began formal music lessons at the Xavier Junior School of Music.
Germaine was inspired by famous jazz singers like Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billy Eckstein.
Music Career
After finishing college at the Xavier University of Louisiana, Germaine Bazzle became a teacher. She taught choir and music at Xavier Prep, helping many young students learn about music. She retired from teaching in 2008.
While teaching, Germaine also had a busy career as a performing musician. She has sung with many great artists. These include Red Tyler, Peter "Chuck" Badie, Victor Goines, George French, and Ellis Marsalis. She also performs with her own band, Germaine Bazzle & Friends.
Germaine has sung in New Orleans night clubs for over twenty years. She also sings regularly with the Saint Louis Catholic Choir and The New World Ensemble. She is a big supporter and teacher at the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp. This camp helps young musicians learn and grow.

Awards and Recognition
Germaine Bazzle has received many awards for her musical talent. In 2015, she won the Lifetime Achievement in Music Education award from OffBeat magazine. This award honored her long career in teaching music.
OffBeat also gave her two "Best of the Beat" awards. She was named Best Contemporary Jazz Vocalist in 1996. The next year, in 1997, she won Best Female Vocalist. From 1990 to 1994, she received the Big Easy Music Award for Best Female Performer four times.
