Germantown is a small community in Columbia County, New York. It is located on the east side of the Hudson River. This area is called a census-designated place (CDP). In 2020, about 1,121 people lived in the Germantown CDP. The larger town of Germantown had a total population of 1,936 people.

Germantown is found at specific coordinates: 42.135865 degrees north and 73.887886 degrees west. This area includes the main part of Germantown and stretches north to North Germantown. It also goes south to cover most of the small community of Cheviot.
Borders and Nearby Areas
The community is bordered on the west by the famous Hudson River. To the north, you'll find Anchorage Road, Northern Boulevard, and Camp Creek Road. On the east side, it's bordered by Hover Avenue and Church Avenue. To the south, the borders are Roundtop Road and Cheviot Road.
Roads and Travel
New York State Route 9G is a main road that goes through Germantown. If you travel north on this road, you can reach Hudson, which is about 10 miles away. Going south on Route 9G will take you to Annandale-on-Hudson, about 9 miles away.
